The historic seaside city of Biarritz is a top tier destination for anyone interested in immersing themselves in French elegance. Known as the Surf Capital of Europe, it is acclaimed for its beaches, hiking trails, golf courses and gastronomy.

Biarritz and the surrounding Basque Coast has been a popular resort destination since European royalty began visiting in the 1800s. Today, the city offers students the opportunity to experience the real everyday comfort, culture and lifestyle of French culture on the coast.

Biarritz Flight Information

All Horizons France sessions begin and end at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG).

Air travel is booked independently, and you are free to use miles, points, or any airline. You can choose to travel on flight itineraries that include the designated flights listed below, or book travel on any flight that arrives to Paris between 6:30 A.M. and 10:00 A.M.

Designated flights are likely to have others who you can meet before the program. All students are in contact with a dedicated staff member who tracks flights on travel days and are met by a program director when they arrive abroad.

Structured Conversational French Lessons

A Horizons Abroad French teacher is reviewing a student's work during class.

Classes are taught by native speakers at our certified partner language schools abroad and accommodate French 1 through AP / IB (European Standards A1 - C2). Lessons are designed to take what you've learned in your French classes at home and build on your current knowledge with real-world language use and conversational practice to rapidly develop your ability, accent, and confidence conversing, reading, and writing in French.

Exciting Daily Activities

Catch some swells in the Surf Capital of Europe, go whitewater rafting in the foothills of the Pyrenees, visit local markets and artisan workshops, and more. Your day abroad is filled with enriching activities that connect you to your surroundings and tie you to French culture in exciting and memorable ways.

Fun Experiential Excursions

Visit some of France's most iconic sites including the Arc de Triomphe and Notre Dame in Paris as well as off-the-beaten-path excursions to charming seaside and mountain villages in the South of France. With Horizons Abroad, you can experience the most of what French culture has to offer.

Enriching Homestay Immersion

A Horizons Abroad student is relaxing and talking with their homestay mother in France.

Homestay immersion is the most authentic way to immerse yourself in the French language and way of life. All local homestays are selected based on their location within walking distance of school as well as their passion and suitability for hosting high school study abroad students.
